Out of respect for the sacred vows taken during initiation,
Mama Zogbé rarely agrees to an interview. Unlike western-based faiths, the Vodoun religion is an experiential tradition in which its mysteries and sacred knowledge are revealed only to the initiate, and are not intended for the general public. Only casual cultural aspects of Vodoun’s traditional practices and beliefs are shared with the public. Because centuries of prejudice, ignorance and general malignment has been the standard fare in the West when referencing African traditional and Diaspora religious practices, Mama Zogbé has agreed to the below interviews only to dispel many of these erroneous myths, and to offer to the public a more in-depth three-dimensional model which will aid in their studies and general understanding of these ancient Ancestral Religious Traditions.
